One Of The Top Luxury Phuket Resorts Is The Racha Koh Racha Yai

When we booked the Racha we were told it was one of the top luxury Phuket resorts, but having been there I am certain it is the tops of the luxury Phuket Resorts. I had been looking for cheap deals on Phuket Hotels, or a Phuket vacation package to a nice hotel, when literally by chance I came upon The Racha. The idea took my fancy immediately, and we made some more enquiries and booked to go.

We were very impressed when we arrived at Phuket airport where we were picked up by a huge Mercedes and taken to a special Racha lounge, where we checked in prior to a 30 minute or so boat ride to The Hotel. I must be slow on the uptake, because it was really only then that I realized The Racha is in fact on an island called Koh Racha Yai!! It is very worthwhile checking the arrival of your flight, and the departure of the boat, because we knew other guests who had to wait a couple of hours in the lounge, whilst more by accident than design we were there for only a few minutes.

As to the resort itself, it is certainly beautifully presented, a beautiful place on a beautiful beach. It's worth getting a villa up the hill, because there isn't any passing traffic, and it feels very private even when you are sitting outside, and the views are pretty good too!! The inside of the villa is very minimalistic, but I did enjoy the outside shower. The standards of cleanliness were superb, there always seemed to be staff arriving to clean up behind us, and always with a smile on their faces.

The infinity pool is quite amazing especially at dusk, and unlike other places we have been the photographs didn't do the resort justice. I had read complaints about the service, but in our experience it was faultless, and everything with a smile, nothing being too much trouble. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts, with just about everything you can think of, I just wish guests wouldn't slyly slip rolls and cold meats into their beach bags to eat later. In a hotel of this quality that is not on.

Meals were expensive, however within a brisk five minute walk if you choose you can find cheap and lovely inexpensive local restaurants. The beach wasn't always deserted, and we Westerners tend to forget that all beaches in Thailand have public access. If you don't like it, and it never lasts more than a few hours, there are beautiful and secluded beaches not far away. All in all we had a great time, did nothing, but then again, there wasn't much to do anyway, and generally just unwound. Having not yet experienced other resorts in Phuket, they will have to be pretty good to be better than the Racha on Koh Racha Yai, definitely one of the top luxury Phuket resorts in my book anyway.

Doctors to Prescribe Anger Management for Children

Doctors in the England could soon be able to prescribe anger management classes for children with behavioural problems under a new 8.9 million pound government scheme. Under the plans the NHS could pay for anger management for difficult children along with a number of other services such as air conditioning for those with lung disease who struggle to keep cool during the hot summer months. The scheme will see the 8.9 million pounds allocated to 81 deprived areas in England under a framework to tackle inequalities.

The framework also aims to encourage local councils and health services to find new ways of working together to prevent ill health amongst the community. Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt said: "For too long health has been seen simply in terms of hospitals and bed numbers. NHS stands for the National Health Service not the National Sickness Service and we want it to live up to its name. We need to radically change the culture of how we shape and deliver care - shifting focus from curing the sick to the proactive prevention of ill health, as well as tackling health inequalities.

By giving GPs more flexibility in how they use NHS money and investing more in community based programmes, local services will be able to offer people a seamless service of care - whether in a hospital, in their home or in the community." Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly added: "By using this framework and working through Local Area Agreements local authorities and primary care trusts can begin to draw together the contributions of different services, leisure, transport, libraries and housing as well as across social, primary and community care to create the outcomes which lead to prosperous and healthier communities."

However, shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley said: "Patricia Hewitt must be living on a different planet. The NHS does not have enough money to fund operations, so how does she expect GPs to divert money for NHS treatments into preventative equipment or services? It further illustrates why public health budgets to fund preventative services should be ring-fenced. Joined-up health and social care is absolutely necessary but to break down the barriers we need direct payments that encompass social and healthcare following a single assessment."

Dr Hamish Meldrum, chairman of the British Medical Association's GPs committee welcomed the idea of preventing illness through tackling inequalities. But he said: "At a time of massive deficits in local NHS budgets, hospital closures and redundancy and unemployment for doctors, nurses and other health workers, it beggars belief that a government that has lost its way with the NHS wants the service to provide air conditioning and anger management classes. GPs already refer children with behavioural problems to specialist psychiatrists or psychologists, the problem is the shortage of NHS provision in these services. As for air con units - let's hope that in 12 months time the government is not berating GPs for over-prescribing them."

Dame Helena Shovelton, chief executive of the British Lung Foundation, said: "Providing air conditioning facilities during hot weather for people with lung disease can be helpful, as can community nursing support, timely weather forecasts and advice on pollution levels." Finally, Andrea Bilbow, of the National Attention Deficit Disorder Information and Support Service, said: "Anger management classes are an incredibly good idea. I hope they becomes a reality."

Managing The First Three Months In A Sales Mangers Role

Some managers are lucky, they are prepared by their organizations for their new role with appropriate management training. Others are simply promoted into their new position without much additional support. Even with support, the first few months in any new management position can be daunting. For those entering a career as a Sales Manager what they do in the first few months in their new job is also critical to their future success. This is because how you manage during these early days will affect how you as the Sales Manager will cope later on with your new sales force, colleagues and superiors.

You should not fall into the trap of assuming that everyone will welcome you with open arms. Indeed, many people may initially observe you in a critical light. You may also have to deal with employee anxieties, envy from colleagues who attended the same management training as you but who have not been promoted as well as resentment from colleagues in other areas. Everything you do and every decision you make will be subject to scrutiny. Rumors will be rife. The following advice will help you make the transition more easily.

Whilst you need to gain an overview of the sales situation as quickly as possible it is also important that you do not rush into anything. You should move forward instead in a systematic way. To do this we suggest you divide your first three months into an "orientation", a "concept" and a "profiling" phase. What to focus on in these phases is described below.

The first phase in your new job should be considered as an orientation phase. It will probably last about four weeks. Aim to spend much of these first four weeks as possible away from your office and not in the company building. Arrange to accompany your new team on client visits for half days or longer. Have a personal chat with each of your sales people to get to know them.

In this first phase you should set the following goal for yourself: to listen, take on board the problems encountered by your salespeople and gain impressions of the market and your clients. It is vitally important for your credibility that you do not give your point of view on, for example, any decisions your predecessor may have made. If such matters are raised you should appear interested, but remain reserved. During your first few months, avoid making any decisions that go beyond your day-to-day responsibilities. Defer making far-reaching decisions.

The next month in the job should be considered as the concept phase. You should spend most of this second month at your desk drawing up a list outlining the problems you noticed during your first four weeks. Start by drafting a rough concept for your future sales strategy and sales policy. This would include, for example, the competitive situation, sales routes, condition policy, offer programme, area structure, management of the external sales department and sales promotion.

To round off your information, have discussions with representative customers, large-scale buyers and colleagues - such as the Head of Marketing, the Production Manager, the Head of Logistics, etc. Limit your contact with the sales force during this phase to telephone conversations. Remember to constantly discuss your thoughts and ideas with the company management.

Your third month in the job should be considered as the Profiling phase. Now is the time for you to show your "profile" and discuss the concept phase in detail with company management so you can explain your goals. It is important that you jointly identify priorities and so secure moral support. Inform your colleagues in the department of your plans and intentions. Agree the "ground rules" for future co-operation. Assure your department colleagues of your willingness to co-operate.

You should also arrange a team meeting with your sales team. You will need to inform your salespeople of your conclusions from observations made during client visits and tell the sales force about the goals you have set and the expectations you have of them. Make sure you spend time answering any questions they might have. Also, let them know about any pending decisions or any decisions you have already made.

Following the above three month action plan will set you up for success. Time Management's Doom Loop

Time Management's Doom Loop is analogous to Albert Einstein's definition of insanity: Doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.

Time Management's Doom Loop Day: Wake up. Jump out of bed. Get on the treadmill. Glimpse at your spouse as you pass each other in the hallway cause you are late for work. Shout at the kids to, "hurry up!" Drop the kids off. Go through the robotic motions of your job. Get off work. Grab a quick bite. Bicker with your spouse (a little or a lot). Sit in front of the television or the Internet until it is time for bed. When your head hits the pillow your mind races through the day, then moves on to tomorrow as you try to get to sleep. The next day?


Time Management's Doom Loop is what many Americans find themselves revolved in.

This seems grim and it is. Many American have been doom-looped! Some reasons? Money is tight. The economy is stuck. The wars America is currently engaged in. Fuel prices going north. Housing markets going south. Our children are at risk. We are at risk. Drug and alcohol abuse is on the rise. Domestic violence and crime stories have become an accepted part of the daily news stories. This is real stuff and it has nothing to do with managing our time better. Doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results? This is insanity.

Time Management's Doom Loop is insanity! Time Management does not address how to change.

Time, by the way, cannot be managed. Managing time is like trying to manage a raging river. A person who jumps in (or falls in) a raging river has only one option - to survive its deadly current. Are you trying to keep from drowning? Stop for a moment and ride the current. Let me throw you a life vest. This life vest is a new concept called, "Energy Management."

Energy is something you can manage.

Time management has duped all of us. Do not feel bad. Life today is like a white-water rafting trip on the raging river. Many are just trying to survive its current. Without the right equipment, however, this rafting trip is simply too dangerous. You are your equipment.

How are your energy levels? Low? High? Balanced?

Energy management provides a life worth living. When a person's energy levels are balanced, a person becomes ready to fully engage in life's process. When a person is out of balance he or she is back in the loop - the doom loop.

Too high of energy levels within a person creates madness. Life becomes chaotic. Busy, busy, busy doing what? Busy for what? More often than not, those who are overly busy use this as an excuse not to engage in the richness of life, which seems like a distant fantasy. Too low of energy levels within a person creates apathy and lethargy. Life becomes robotic. Not much to care about. More often than not, those who are depressed use this as an excuse not to engage in the richness of life, which seems like a distant fantasy. Energy levels, which are too high or too low, become the excuse escape.

If you do not want to change - don't. At least now you can blame the doom loop. If you do want to change, welcome to Energy Management.

Ask yourself the following two questions:

1. Why am I doing what I'm doing? Explain it to yourself and see if it makes sense.

2. Do I like what I'm doing? If yes, keep doing it. If no, do something about it.

Write five things in your current reality you would like to change. This is called you current reality because it represents, today. Write five things in your ideal reality you would like to see change. This is called your ideal reality because it represents your possibilities and potential. Bridge the two realities together with your "why" answer. Manage the energy you invest in your time and the time you invest in your energy - this will give you the highest returns.
